Therapy at Peri Counseling often takes the form of a student/teacher relationship. Unlike other styles of therapy, you will learn specific actions to take in order to help yourself when you’re having a panic attack, feeling like you’re living “outside of your body”, dealing with overwhelming sadness, having urges to cut or induce vomiting, to restrict your calories, and to manage many other harmful behaviors. Both DBT and RO-DBT use easy to remember acronyms. Over-time, and with practice, these skills become like second nature. You can feel more in control and have an increased ability to feel comfortable being your true self.
